Virtuous Effects of Religion on Negative Emotions among Offenders in a Colombian Prison.
The team at Baylor University has a paper under review in the Journal of Crime and Justice titled "Virtuous Effects of Religion on Negative Emotions among Offenders in a Colombian Prison."
The study provides empirical evidence of the virtuous effect of religion on mental health among prisoners. More specifically, that a prisoner’s participation in religious programs and practices leads to 1) the development of positive virtues including forgiveness, self-control and gratitude and 2) a reduction in anger, depression, and anxiety.
This study affirms the mission of our in-prison programs, including The Prisoner’s Journey (TPJ). Read it in full here!
